Who, what, why, when, where and how ….?
First things first – to answer a question we’re often asked, Longdog Brewery gained its name from our beautiful rescue Lurcher, Bob.
With more than 25 years of ‘from grain’ home brewing experience under his belt as well as plenty of years of ale ‘sampling’, Phil decided to put all the passion and experience to good use and started brewing commercially in June 2011.
Having chosen the name ‘Longdog Brewery’ for his home brewing efforts, it was only right to carry it on to the commercial brewing. The striking picture of a running Longdog makes for a fabulous, easily recognised brand.
Basingstoke has an incredibly rich brewing history dating back to the the 19th century and Phil was keen to build on that history – to bring brewing back to the local community.
With Lisa hailing from Alton – another Hampshire town with incredibly rich brewing history – it seemed inevitable that brewing would come to them both eventually!
Lisa’s background in product management, management and customer service to name a few has given her great foundations for dealing with all the non-brewing jobs! Not forgetting all the ‘home management’ experience which is a good background for all the cleaning a brewery needs!
They’re both (currently) keen to be part of the Family Business when they are older – but seeing as neither of them has reached double figures yet, there’s a while to wait!
Although, as you’ll see, they’re happy to lug things around already.
